Psyllium Defense Supplement
Psyllium granules with probiotic and camelina oil, formulated from clinical studies for the prevention and elimination of sand accumulation in the digestive system of horses. For maintaining good health in general and promoting digestive functions. To promote the maintenance and balance of normal intestinal microbial flora.
Research has shown that the consumption of sand and dirt by horses can cause chronic diarrhea, weight loss and colic due to irritation and obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract.
In two reports, the incidence of sand colic ranges from 5% to 30% of all colic cases. The diagnosis of sand accumulations in the intestine is made by one or more of the following examinations: auscultation of the abdomen, fecal sedimentation in search of sand, ultrasound and radiography.
Daily supplementation of a psyllium supplement that contains prebiotics and probiotics has been shown to improve fecal sand clearance in horses.
Note: Psyllium Defense does not contain any prohibited substances and can be used in competitive horses
To prevent sand accumulation and colic: Administer orally 220g/day (3 scoops) for 7 consecutive days with the feed, once a month. Administer orally 220g/day (3 scoops) every 2 days to horses at higher risk kept in a very sandy environment.
As treatment: Administer orally 375g/day (5 scoops) with the feed each day. Check the manure for traces of sand after each week of treatment and continue until the sand is completely removed. This procedure may take a few weeks.
